Super Committee, Gridlock And Danger...

Bowles and former Republican Senator Alan Simpson, co-chair of the President’s fiscal commission, told the panel to “go big” with a $4 trillion deficit reduction package over the coming decade. They said it would be the “minimum” level of savings needed to keep the nation’s debt from rising faster than economic growth.
Most in Washington would do well to read (and yes, you'll have to actually understand the words): The History of The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Edward Gibbon. An old book granted, but it's still rather relevant today. And for those good citizens of these Americas who don't realise that the USA actually has an 'empire' to protect, well...you have! (it's usually referred to protecting American interests abroad and having military bases in at least 156 countries, which sure helps to remind foreign folks).
Edward Gibbon.
Now...I'm all for US bases and keeping militarily ahead, but it is coming to the point that you can't have this ginormous debt, keep borrowing like a obsessive compulsive and expect to stay in the Number 1 spot for much longer. And the US losing this spot would eventually have dire consequences for all western style democracies.

My American friends: Listen up. I too had an
Empire. I had the Barbarians to contend with, but at least
I wasn't down and out in debtsville...and then there's the
thorny question of Russia, China, Radical Islam...
Oh dear...
So unless the political pygmies in Washington and the so called Super Committee grasp the obvious sharp stingy thing and actually do something other than shuffle the debt dollars on the platform of procrastination; America's days as top dog and protector of those countries with similar values will have gone... vanished quicker than you can say a hail Caesar.
