"BEIRUT—The Arab League overwhelmingly approved sanctions on Sunday against Syria to pressure Damascus to end its deadly eight-month crackdown on dissent, an unprecedented move by the League against an Arab state." (WSJ).
A sanctions spokesperson said, "Oh boy...just you wait! We are banning the import of tooth picks, cotton buds and nutcrackers to Syria. Assad, being a serial nose and ear pickin' guy with a taste for a good nut, will be so, so mad!" Never let it be said that we in the Arab League don't know how to, as you Brits say, 'stick the boot in.'
