Afghanistan: The land has witnessed many military campaigns since antiquity, notably by Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, the Soviet Union and now the US and NATO. All, to differing degrees, have got their come-uppance! In the late 19th century, Afghanistan became a buffer state in the "Great Game" between the British and Russian empires. Following the third Anglo-Afghan war and the signing of the Treaty of Rawalpindi in 1919, the nation regained control over its foreign policy from the British. (Source:Wikipedea).

| Yeah...so why are we here, sarg? I heard from ma good wife that the Islamist terror tossers are now in South America. Are we behind the curve or what! |
Pentagon/Bush/Obama: The fully faulted notion that loosing lives and spending $billions sorting out the un-sortible while supposedly keeping the terror bases from returning, is a PLAN? If the tubes that got us into this in the first place had just bought a book called Afghanstan: A Grave Yard Of Lost Causes.
How about spending...oh, about 0.00001% dollars on keeping the southern border with Mexico secure? You see, if I was one of the scheming Islamist types; surely the best and well proven way into the US - after a farewell party with a guest appearance by Chav the Thug - would be to wear a droopy mustache, a very big hat and hop aboard the 12.35 to Texas clutching a newly minted passport.
2014? Let's just get out of that 7th century basket case NOW!
