Geithner Speaks: Expect More Crap and Fan Fun!

Timmy Geithner, US Treasury Secretary and co-wrecker of the US economy, praised the role of the European Central Bank on Tuesday in tackling the eurozone debt crisis. It's just so typical how this Obama incompetent  lending his support to anything, considering his track record in top marks for failure.
If Franco-German plans to create a “fiscal union” to reinforce European monetary union are being cheered on by this chap, I'd be hyper ventilating.

Just do what I say...but for fuck sake, not what I do!

He said that governments and central banks should join forces in tackling the crisis, stressing the need for more action to boost economic growth, alongside longer-term reforms to reinforce the common currency.

Egypt: The Not So Slow Slide Into An Islamist Hell!

The recent clashes between Coptic and Islamic extremist groups, which cost more than 11 dead and hundreds injured, increase the spectrum of what to expect when Islamists are in control of Egypt. Not only the Christian minority now live in fear, but also millions of moderate Muslims, especially women and the poor. "The rise of radical Islamic parties, said the priest will particularly affect widows and mothers abandoned by their husbands, who will not be able to feed and clothe their children." The Muslim Brotherhood and other radical Islamic parties propose an application of Sharia law which prohibits women from working and leaving the house. These days many Muslim women have participated in events organized by the Coptic community in front of the headquarters of the Egyptian state TV, shouted slogans in favor of secularism and against the Islamification of the country. Tibet: China's Ongoing Repression!

Handcuffed monks with a sign hanging around their neck are dragged away from their monastery. There crime? Demanding religious freedom for Tibet and the return of the Dalai Lama. Shameful and hateful pictures are posted online.

Dharamsala (AsiaNews) – China’s Communist government uses a variety of methods to crush the spirit of those who try to resist Chinese cultural invasion in Tibet. They include anti-riot police dragging handcuffed monks, wearing signs with their name and “crime” around their neck. Church Building? Don't Hold Your Breath!

Jakarta (AsiaNews) - An Islamic extremist group in Pracimantoro, a town in the district of Wonogiri, in central Java, has appealed to local government for the demolition of five Protestant churches in the area. The alarm is launched by Theophilus Bela, human rights activist and promoter of interfaith dialogue, according to whom that the fundamentalists complaint claims the Christian communities lack the building permits (IMB) for places of worship. The tension in the area is steadily increasing, and rumors of threats of demolition, circulating since yesterday evening in a series of documents, is not contributing to calming tempers. Previously, adds the Christian activist, extremist threats have focused on nine other churches in Bekasi regency, West Java.

Book of the Year...Well, It Is In Iran!

 "How to Eliminate Israel, a book written by a group seminarians in the city of Qom, was being promoted at the 13th book fair held in the north eastern Province of Khorasan Province, last week.
In an interview with RASA News, Hojjat ol’Eslam Mohammad Ebrahim-Nia, who headed up the team of writers, said: “How to Eliminate Israel won the Book of the Year award in the ‘soft war’ book category at the fair. Three thousand copies of this first edition of the 180-page book has been published by the Khorasan branch of the Ministry of Islamic culture and guidance." I remember an article in The Guardian (UK) written during the time when
*Hezbollah was firing rockets onto the north of Israel. It may have been the
writer of the article or a quote from someone they had interviewed...anyway... the words written were: "we are all Hezbollah now".
Says it all about the left and liberal tendency, really.

Earth 2: But Is It All Rock?

BBC News - Kepler 22-b: Earth-like planet confirmed: "Astronomers have confirmed the existence of an Earth-like planet in the "habitable zone" around a star not unlike our own.

Thankfully for any Earth 2 inhabitants, we on Earth 1 are
around 6oo light-years away...so we won't be bringing to you our
love of destruction, pestilence and plague any time soon!

The planet, Kepler 22-b, lies about 600 light-years away and is about 2.4 times the size of Earth, and has a temperature of about 22C. It's the closest confirmed planet yet to one like ours - an "Earth 2.0".

However, the team does not yet know if Kepler 22-b is made mostly of rock, gas or liquid."

Now I'm not being pedantic but it's a tad disappointing not to know what to pack. And what if there's no beach or a good ale house? A bit more info about K22-b please and the marketing team will want a much catchier name too.
Oh yeah, and how far away is it? Going at the *speed of light it'll still take you 600 years to get there.
Well...that's further than the Antarctic so there'll be none of the ten day hols on offer and it would certainly be a waste for the kids to be whinging about, 'are we nearly there yet'?
