Assad: Is He "Over the Cuckoo's Nest"?

"Spokesmen for a number of US government bodies reacted strongly yesterday to an interview given by beleaguered Syrian President Bashar Assad to the ABC News Network. In the interview, conducted in English, Assad denied responsibility for the shooting of protesters in Syria. The Syrian president appeared at times confused, laughing in response to questions and saying that despite the fact that he was president, he did not ‘own’ the security forces and therefore could not be held responsible for all their activities. Assad also said that only a government led by a ‘crazy person’ would kill its own people.

US State Department Spokesman Mark Toner called Assad’s remarks ‘ludicrous’ and repeated the US call for him to stand down. A statement by National Security Council Spokesman Tommy Vietor, meanwhile, noted that the Syrian regime was relying increasingly on its armed forces and security apparatus to put down protests, and that therefore the regime itself was responsible for the increase in armed resistance which is currently taking place." Disgraced former Gov. Rod Blagojevich pleaded for leniency the judge has sentenced him to fourteen years. Acknowledging his guilt he said, “I am unbelievably sorry.”

Honey Smacks and some other children’s cereals contain more sugar in a one-cup serving than a Hostess Twinkie, a new study finds.

According to the study, released Tuesday by the Environmental Working Group, Kellogg’s Honey Smacks, Post Golden Crisp and General Mills Wheaties Fuel are ranked as the worst offenders when it comes to sugar content. Additionally, 44 other brands, including Honey Nut Cheerios, Apple Jacks and Cap’n Crunch, contained more sugar in a one-cup serving than three Chips Ahoy cookies.

Obama To Israel: Make Peace With The Palestinians!

After the steadily mounting Palestinian violence flared into a full-scale Second Intifada in September 2000, Rantissi lauded those suicide bombers who had lost their lives in the process of murdering Jewish civilians: “I congratulate them. Rantissi’s deep hatred for Jews and Israel was mirrored in his contempt for the Jewish state’s closest ally, the United States. Following the explosion of the Space Shuttle Columbia in February 2003, Rantissi hailed the catastrophe as "part of divine punishment for America” In Rantissi’s view, the disaster was a manifestation of supernatural retribution for America’s complicity in the “massacres of Muslims, the destruction of their lives, the humiliation of their honor.

In their reporting of Hamas, both CNN and BBC refer to Hamas terrorists as "activists". -- though designated a terrorist organisation by both the US and European Union. Hamas (which is sponsored by Iran) is responsible for more terror attacks against civilians than any other in modern history.

As an important part of a breaking news story on Rantissi's death, Reuters decided that it was essential to mention - not any details of the hundreds of men, woman and children murdered on Rantissi's orders, but Rantissi's home interior decorating. Acording to Reuters, Rantissi had a "modest furnished living room". Oh... and this touching little piece was taped to the Holocaust denying, death-cult tosser's fridge:

Arab Youth: 70% Want OUT!

The Arab League seek solutions as 70 per cent of Arab youth want to emigrate!

 "I look. Really, I look. But there is no job,'' said a young man named Dhouibi. Doing something so common among  young unemployed Arabs that it has earned its own trade name -- the hittistes, meaning in Arabic slang, those who lean up against the wall. 

"Due to their poor participation in society and politics and to rising joblessness, 70 per cent of the Arab youth want to migrate out of the region," Khalid Al Wahishi, director of Population Policy and Immigration at the Arab League said. (Bureau Chief & Gulfnews.com)
