Was Muhammad a “cult leader”? Certainly one definition of a cult is that members are not free to opt out if they choose to do so – and it was Muhammad who enunciated Islam’s notorious death penalty for apostasy by saying,“Whoever changes his Islamic religion, then kill him.” (Bukhari 9.84.57). 

Also, there are several celebrated incidents in which Muhammad lashed out violently against his opponents, ordering the murder of several people for the crime of making fun of him -- including the poet Abu ‘Afak, who was over one hundred years old, and the poetess ‘Asma bint Marwan. Abu ‘Afak was killed in his sleep, in response to Muhammad’s question, “Who will avenge me on this scoundrel?” Similarly, Muhammad on another occasion cried out, “Will no one rid me of this daughter of Marwan?” One of his followers, ‘Umayr ibn ‘Adi, went to her house that night, where he found her sleeping next to her children. The youngest, a nursing babe, was in her arms. But that didn’t stop ‘Umayr from murdering her and the baby as well. Iran: Squeezing Their Lemons A Tad More!

WASHINGTON - The United States on Thursday targeted Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) for sanctions over its support to terrorist groups and the Syrian government.

The Department of Treasury blacklisted the ministry also for "its central role in perpetrating human rights abuses against the citizens of Iran", a move that bars US persons from doing business with the agency, freezes its assets under US jurisdiction and imposes a visa ban on all its members.
The US Treasury alleged that the MOIS provides financial, material or technological support for Hezbollah, a Lebanese Shiite militant group, and Hamas, a Palestinian movement that rules the Gaza Strip, and has participated in multiple joint projects with Hezbollah in computer hacking. Washington brands both Hezbollah and Hamas as terrorist organizations. Energy: The Natural Gas Way Ahead!

Would you pay $100 to stop funding terrorism, kick OPEC in the teeth, have a choice about what fuel you purchase (resulting in saving you $1,000 per year per car under today’s price levels), and spur job creation in America—all at the same time?

Natural gas production.

The United States has huge reserves of natural gas — by some estimates over 2,500 trillion cubic feet of recoverable reserves. That natural gas is easily converted into methanol, and methanol use could save drivers at least 80 cents per gallon for the same energy a gallon of gasoline today provides. Such an option is available today in most cars in Brazil, where massive production of sugarcane ethanol (not a good idea for the US for a lot of reasons) has made Brazil the world’s first sustainable bio-fuel economy. It’s no accident that Brazil’s economy has been booming in recent years as the United States’ sags under high petroleum costs.  The way ahead for the USA  is NATURAL GAS powered cars etc. Some public transport is already using this as fuel here and elsewhere in the world.

Iran is now signaling that it is interested in diplomacy. Its foreign minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, has declared that Iran will resume talks with the five permanent members of the Security Council and the Germans. He recently said that Iran would discuss Russia’s step-by-step proposal to defuse the nuclear standoff, which Iran refused to entertain when a variation of it was first broached last year. Now, with Iran feeling the pressure, its leaders suddenly seem prepared to talk.* (C) Dennis B. Porcelain Unicorn

British film director Sir Ridley Scott launched a global film making contest for aspiring directors. It's titled "Tell It Your Way". There were over 600 entries. The film could be no longer than three minutes, contain only 6 lines of narrative & be a compelling story. The winner was "Porcelain Unicorn" from American director Keegan Wilcox.

It's a story of the lifetimes of two people who are totally opposite, yet, very much the same - all told in less than 3 minutes...

Oh What A Surprise: Arab Springers Being Naughty!

CNN) -- Armed militias in Libya are committing human rights abuses with impunity, threatening to destabilize the country and hindering its efforts to rebuild, Amnesty International said Thursday.

Arab nutters with guns..er...nice Arab boys asking the chap for a Camel.

Militias have tortured detainees, targeted migrants and displaced entire communities in revenge attacks, according to a report the organization released a year after the start of popular uprisings that eventually ended Moammar Gadhafi's 42-year rule.
"Hundreds of armed militias, widely hailed in Libya as heroes for their role in toppling the former regime, are largely out of control," the report says.
