If any sort of democracy evolves from the various groups (and remember...Islam and democracy have proven so far to be mutually exclusive)...if the big D does catch on in Libya, I'll be the first to scoff a jar of what the Brits call Marmite.

BBC News - US and UK teams debate Declaration of Independence: "Two teams of lawyers from the US and UK have debated the legality of America's Declaration of Independence. The debate was part of an event to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Temple American Inn of Court.
The BBC's Matt Danzico went to Philadelphia to find out if today's legal minds would judge America's most famous document - and the Founding Fathers behind it - to be treasonous."

So listen up Yanks...you are all illegal! But I don't blame you for wanting to kick out some fat German bloke. Paying tax to keep King Georgie's drink cabinet groanin' and gout levels precarious, is asking too much of any self respecting, non voting colonist...so all's forgiven!

Caucus Calender Crap!

Nevada GOP reconsiders Feb. caucus date - Boston.com: "Nevada GOP Chairwoman Amy Tarkanian told The Associated Press Wednesday that state Republican leaders could reset the date amid concerns that New Hampshire might hold its first-in-the-nation primary in early December. Tarkanian says state Republican leaders could pick a new date before Saturday, when more than 200 rank-and-file Republicans were expected to vote on the matter."

Being a Brit, I find the whole date changing thing like some childish playground game. One lot saying, "but we always go first," while the other juveniles in charge of their respective caucus, play spoiler leapfrog. Jez, it's bad enough having elections going on somewhere in the US every 10 minutes, without all of this petty one-up crap. Grow up the lot of you!

Pak Army Bluster And Point A Lot!

BBC News - Pakistan warns US over unilateral military action: "Washington has for many years urged Islamabad to deal with militants in the area, especially the Haqqani network. It has been blamed for a series of recent attacks in Afghanistan. "If someone convinced me that all problems will be solved by taking action in North Waziristan, I'd do it."

Yeah of course you would, you conniving creeps.  Like the action you took regarding a certain Osama bin-liner who was just over the garden wall from you. As I've said many times before: Pakistan are a treacherous bunch. After all, without their explicit backing there never would have been such an entity as the Taliban; who remain to this day a creature of the Islamists who pervade the Pakistani establishment.
So just keep sending the Drones over and when Pakistani Intel or military bluster and threaten, tell them to piss-off. And stop sending them billions of dollars to spend on who knows what! 

Yucca Mountain And Decommissioning.

Nuclear energy. It's guaranteed to start an argument. Even two Met fans will throw the tail end of a hot dog at one another. But who, except for the boffins actually knows much about the different types of reactors and what the cost is for decommissioning and storage of the spent fuel?

Present sites in the US.

In 1987, Congress chose Yucca Mountain, a 230 sq mile site in Nevada. Near to $12 billion was spent in developing this geologically sound facility in order to safely store spent fuel permanently, or to have it used in some future fusion reactor when nuclear energy can be produced without the downside of radiation. In the meantime, the US Energy Dept under Obama's administration has canceled the funding for the Yucca Mountain facility.

As most folk will be aware, Obama likes to meddle in things he knows squit about, but will quite happily throw 500 million tax dollars away on his pet projects; eg a solar company that was about to go bust. But I digress...

Motorola Razr: Beads And Trinkets...

Motorola revives Razr as part of new Droid: "The original Razr made quite the fashion statement back in the day because of its extremely svelte design. The new Android smartphone picks up on that legacy; Droid Razr is a mere 7.1mm thin, or just over a quarter of an inch.

Humans haven't changed at all since bubbles, beads and some shiny anything did it for them. Or perhaps it was a show from Dr Doom, promising eternal life with just one swig from the bottle of his new snake oil;  usually flogged to the inter bred dims from the back of a covered wagon.
But now it's a thinner, smarter, lighter and it even knows more than the sucker who'll cradle baby Droid/iPhone or whatever for at least six months. These are now just some of the 21st century equivalents.
Oh well, I suppose should be glad that the I-must-have-a-new-whatever folk are helping to keep us from the scary double dip which still hovers just over the horizon.

Comies, Nazis Backing Occupy Wall Street!

The Communist Party and the Nazi Party (old friends from the start of WW2 before they fell out) have now announced on their web sites that they are standing in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street.

So it's not just the Great Unwashed and Bewildered Parties that are at Operation Crapout.  If you're between the ages of 18 and 25 maybe you've some excuse for being there as your right of passage: but now it really is the unsavory anti Semites, and defecating  politically dysfunctional that are in the mix; all united in their common hatred of anything that's not them.
